Hackery

Thursday, October 21st, 2004

Pretty successul hackfest today, almost 150 people in the channel at one point. There were areas to improve on, hopefully we’ll tidy those up for another EPlugin hackfest in a couple of months. We are trying to grab some internal resources to improve both the developer docs and the website (go garret).

I need to get to some bit rotting patches on the list as well before they are entirely passe.

Had a brutal time at Ikea this weekend trying to obtain cabinets for the kitchen, spent 2.5 hours to have our original order only partially filled.

The rugby team won again last week, I’m playing for the 1st XV again in the cup semi-finals this week. In last weeks game I actually chipped a tooth, got it repaired earlier this week.

Saw Team America World Police last friday, which I guess is old hat now, but it was pretty entertaining.

Only one more week of pre-natal classes and less that 3 weeks to the due date!

Gobble, Gobble

Canadian Thanksgiving draws to a close with me having had two turkey dinner in two days. Wished I could have been at the summit, but I’m loathe to leave home so close to Tara’s due date.

Finished sanding the floor on Saturday and layed on three coats of gloss urethane on Sunday/Monday. We stayed at a hotel Sunday night to avoid the fumes.

Recovered from my first fantasy football loss last week by winning handily this week.

Rolled up Evolution 2.0.2 for GNOME 2.8.1.

Luis: How is fifth overall Michael Vick working out for you?

Hack Attack

Banged on some 2.0.x bugs and undertook some 2.2 work – wrote an EPlugin to add UI back for threading by subject title (instead of by headers). The code is in there, its just been hidden in gconf. Looked at Ross’s contact applet code a bit more, we must fix the completion widget reusability issue in 2.2. Will McCann wrote a timezone editor capplet that I’ve grabbed but haven’t played with much. We need to think about date/time/location on the desktop a bit, I brought it up briefly at GUADEC but never did write a proposal for glib…

Rugby practice, no game this week – its Thanksgiving in Canada.

Hopefully this weekend I can complete the refinishing of the floor and move on to cabinets!

Maybe I’m not Nat but a hackergotchi would be nice :-) .

Makes three…

This past weekend played our first McCormack Cup game, which we won. Tight in the first half but they were well worn down by the second half. I even picked up a try. I also sanded the floor in the kitchen (very old pine) with a big rental machine, it did an ok job but there are a lot of low spots that will need the belt sander.

Spent some time reducing the gal usage in Evolution, specifically converting to G_DEFINE_TYPE from E_MAKE_TYPE. Fooled around with config related eplugins, haven’t got the hang of them yet.

Spent some time working on the Evolution 2.2 roadmap, should be ready this week, and public team meetings should restart next week as well.

Another prenatal class tonight, time is getting tight. Need to finish the kitchen as well as stain the change stand and dresser, put the stroller together, etc.
